From Interest to a Booked Date. Clear Next Steps for Safer Banking Teams

Interest is useful. A booked date is what changes a team.

If you have followed this series through September, the case is already familiar. Gender-based violence and workplace harm affect people, performance and trust. Awareness alone rarely changes what happens on a busy branch floor or after a difficult call. The next step is not another article. It is a date in the diary; a pilot workshop, an eLearning demo, or a discovery conversation that turns intention into a plan.

Why a date matters more than another discussion

South Africa’s first national GBV study, released by the Human Sciences Research Council, found that 33.1% of women aged 18 and older have experienced physical violence in their lifetime, and 35.5% have experienced physical and/or sexual violence. That is an estimated 7.3 million and 7.8 million women respectively.

In workplaces, the same reality often shows up as quieter risk: reduced focus, strained teams, underused reporting channels, and skills that fade after a single session. A 2025 scoping review of workplace bystander interventions found that workshops with practice exercises show greater potential for increasing bystander behaviour than passive learning; and that leadership support is one of the factors most often linked to successful implementation.

None of that happens in the abstract. It happens when a team is in the room, or on a demo call, with a date that holds.

Sixteen Days of Activism runs from 25 November to 10 December 2026. Banks that book a pilot or demo now still have time to put practised skills in place before that window. Waiting until November leaves far less room to do anything more than communications.

Three clear next steps; choose one

You do not need to decide the next three years this week. You need one booked action.

  1. Book a one-day workshop pilot.
Impilo’s “Resilient Families, Safer Workplaces & Communities” workshop is the fastest way to test the approach with a real team. It gives people the 5 D’s (Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, Direct) and supportive-response skills in culturally grounded, South African workplace scenarios. Choose this if you want a proof point in one branch, contact-centre team or leadership cohort.
  2. Request an eLearning demo.
The GBV Banking Foundation eLearning is available now. It helps organisations give more people the same core capability across sites and shifts. A Skilled Bystander programme is completing production by 30 October 2026. Choose this if you need consistency at scale after, or instead of, a single workshop day.
  3. Schedule a discovery conversation.
If you are comparing options, aligning stakeholders, or planning for November, a short discovery call is the cleanest way to match the pathway to your bank’s calendar, risk priorities and team structure.

Impilo Academy launches in November 2026. It is a structured, banking-contextualised learning pathway that extends the current workshop and eLearning offer. It does not replace them. Early-interest and further-information requests are welcome; and they sit alongside, not instead of, a near-term booked step.

What “booked” can look like in the next two weeks

Keep the first commitment small and specific:

  • pick one team or region
  • agree a workshop date or a 45-minute demo slot
  • name the internal owner (HR, L&D, wellbeing, CSI or a business leader)
  • decide what “good” would look like after the session; shared language, manager follow-through, clearer reporting routes

That is enough to move from interest to implementation.

How Impilo works with you

Impilo is the implementation partner for the workshop and current eLearning, and the pathway into Academy learning in November. Programmes are trauma-informed, culturally grounded and designed for South African banking realities; hierarchy, client pressure, hybrid work and diverse teams.

Make the next step visible

Safer teams are not built by circling the same conversation. They are built when someone puts a date in the calendar and a team gets the chance to practise.

If you have been interested, this is the conversion week: book the pilot, request the demo, or schedule the discovery call. Academy early-interest requests can sit beside that decision. The near-term step is what gives people skills they can use before 16 Days begins, and after it ends.

What would make it easiest for your organisation to move from interest to a booked date this month; a pilot workshop, an eLearning demo, or a discovery conversation?
